Mechuka or Menchukha

Mechuka (also spelled Menchukha) is a remote high-altitude town in the newly formed Shi Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh. Often called the “Shangri-La of India,” it is situated at approximately 6,000 feet (1,829 meters) and is located just 29 km from the McMahon Line.

Etymology and Name:
The names are interchangeable. Menchukha is the traditional name derived from three local words:
Men: Medicinal
Chu: Water
Kha: Ice or Snow

Together, they mean “medicinal water of snow,” referring to the belief that the melted glacial water flowing through the valley has healing properties.
