Thub-Chog Gatsel Ling Monastery

Thub-Chog Gatsel Ling Monastery, also known as the Lower Gompa, is a serene and culturally significant Buddhist monastery located in Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh, India. It’s an important center for Tibetan Buddhism, particularly the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) tradition, and a popular destination for both spiritual seekers and tourists.

The monastery was built in the early 1960s by the 12th reincarnation of Tsona Gontse Rinpoche. It was established to provide a sanctuary for Tibetan refugees and to preserve the Gelugpa tradition.

The monastery showcases vibrant Buddhist art, including golden statues, intricate mandalas, murals, and thangka paintings that depict the life of the Buddha and ancient teachings. The architecture is a beautiful example of the Tibetan-style.
